It’s true, The Annex has taken over the building formerly occupied by Park Avenue Wine Bar. However, this is more than just an extension of McGonigal's Pub... though the great character and atmosphere from the Pub is apparent throughout, The Annex has its OWN identity, making it uniquely appealing entity in the Barrington region. Our expertise is mixology, with an arsenal of amazing specialty cocktails that will continue to grow and develop with our customer's pallets. The Annex also features nearly three dozen craft beers with a couple ever-changing specialty beers on tap. Additionally, we appeal to the average wine drinkers and connoisseurs alike, offering a wide assortment of quality wines along with a special reserve list. Combine this with an extraordinary menu of small shared plates and entrée-sized options (including suggested libations), and you now have another distinctive entertainment option in the area. Of course the popular neighboring Pub is connected, and the doors will always be open between these two establishments!

The Annex is located at 205 Park Avenue, which is a block east off of Cook Street just south of Main Street in the heart of downtown Barrington – ample parking available – and we’re also two blocks from the Union Pacific Metra Rail station. The Annex opens at 4:00 PM seven days a week, closing at 1:00 AM Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 AM on Friday & Saturday. Reservations are not needed, and attire is always casual. There is an announcement that needs to be made, which though sad news at the moment will turn into great news very soon, we promise! Our friends and Pub family members at Park Avenue Wine Bar officially shut their doors for business as of Sunday August 19th. HOWEVER, in this case when one door closes another one opens up... this is not the end, it's evolution. We're in the process of creating a business that will offer a fantastic new establishment while also providing a true compliment to our already great Pub atmosphere. One family business, one main location, two great destinations - in early September we'll be welcoming The Annex to downtown Barrington!

Our neighboring business - Park Avenue Restaurant • Wine Bar - is owned by the father of the Pub owner, Dennis McGonigal, and managed by Steve Berry. Both the Pub and Wine Bar are accessible through the common entryway off of Park Avenue, but are "connected" in many more ways than one - besides Dennis being an owner, Steve and Pub owner Bryan McGonigal are brothers-in-law!

Park Avenue is a distinctive destination for wine enthusiasts in Barrington and the Chicagoland area. Park Avenue’s wine bar features an extensive selection of wines and other libations in a chic, comfortable bar setting. Patrons can enjoy a full menu of carefully crafted food that complements their wine choices. In addition, Park Avenue’s retail selection provides shoppers with a dazzling array of fine wines and liquor available for purchase.

The address for Park Avenue Wine Bar & Merchant is 205 Park Avenue, Barrington IL 60010, literally right next door to the pub. They are open Mondays through Fridays at 11 AM, Saturdays at 4:00 PM, and are closed Sundays. They typically stay open until around 1 AM Sunday-Thursday and 2 AM Friday & Saturday.
