Shortly after the Bears-Broncos game today we have our "first Sunday of every month" fun Irish group known as The Ragged Rascals on our main level stage. They put on a family-friendly show full of sing-along Irish tunes!

September 29, 2023: This Saturday as usual we'll be showing as much college football as we can, with the featured game being our Nebraska Huskers vs. Michigan at 2:30 PM, and it will be shown with sound in our main level. GO BIG RED! However, we do apologize to our Manchester United faithful as we will not be opening early for the 9 AM match.

September 27, 2023: We are currently working on releasing a revamped food menu. Don't worry, most of the old favorites & standards will remain! However, we ask that you please bear with us as during this transition a few items on the current menu are no longer available.

September 23, 2023: We'll be showing lots of college football today, including our Nebraska Huskers vs. Louisiana Tech at 2:30 PM (will be shown with sound in our main level). Additionally, we'll have some soccer on with the Manchester United - Burnley match at 2 PM.

September 22, 2023: It's homecoming weekend in Barrington, and we welcome three Barrington High School reunions happening at the Pub - the classes of 1993, 1998 and 2003! Also, the homecoming football game is vs. Fremd is at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

September 8, 2023: GO BIG RED! Tomorrow (Saturday 9/9) the Pub will open our doors at 10:45 AM for the Nebraska - Colorado 11 AM kickoff. We're also introducing an additonal football weekend special, $17 buckets of Bud & Bud Light bottles, good throughout the 2023 football season.

September 3, 2023: The Pub is open regular business hours (11 AM - 1 AM) on Labor Day, and our "Irish Monday" specials are in effect.

August 30, 2023: GO BIG RED! Did you know that the owners of the Pub are originaly from Nebraska? Over the years we've always shown Huskers games and became an official Nebraska alumni watch site. There are only a few in the entire Chicagoland area who feature the Huskers whenever they play, and that tradition continues here when our Nebraska Huskers take on Minnesota in the 2023 season opener, tomorrow (Thursday August 31) at 7:00 PM. Game will be shown with sound in our main level.

August 25, 2023: We will be opening at 9:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday 8/26) for the Manchester United - Nottingham match. Full bar service but kitchen won't be open until about 10:45 AM so it's OK to "bring your own doughnuts." Additionally, GO BRONCOS as our Barrington High School football team starts their 2023 season with a home game vs. Warren tonight at 7:30 PM. Taking over where we left off last season, the Pub is proud once again to be supplying the pre-game meal for the team!

August 18, 2023: The English Premier League started the new season a few days ago, and as a Manchester United Pub we're excited to see them back in action! They've already played their first match and won; join us Saturday (tomorrow) at 11:30 AM when MUFC takes on Tottenham. Our usual MUFC matchday special - $4 Heineken drafts - will be in effect.

August 17, 2023: We are working on revamping our food menu items for the fall, plus we're bringing in some new seasonal draft beers. This will be happening in the next few weeks or so; stay tuned for details as they'll be posted here and on our Facebook page.

August 9, 2023: On behalf of all our staff we wanted to take a moment to THANK YOU for all your support and patronage. This truly comes from the heart since it remains very tough to run a business in this industry and the dog days of summer make things especially quiet in Barrington. Having said that, you can count on us to provide you with professional, friendly service in a relaxed Pub environment while keeping our pricing very competitive, the quality levels high, and we won’t ever sneak in other hidden costs to try and make ends meet. July 18, 2023: This coming Friday (July 21st) we welcome back Irish singer (and former Celtic Thunder member) Paul Byrom to the Pub. He's performed here a few times in the past and will be in The Loft (our 2nd level) for a ticket-in-advance event. The show starts at 7:30 PM (6:30 PM if you're part of the meet & greet). July 13, 2023: This coming Sunday (July 16th) PAWS Chicago returns to Barrington for their "Angels With Tails" adoption event. From 12 PM - 4 PM dozens of adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will be available at various places throughout town, including right here at the Pub in some of our outdoor seating area! June 30, 2023: The Village of Barrington has some fun events planned for the holiday weekend... though the popular "Brat Tent" festivities, Brew Fest and Uncork events may be long gone, there's outdoor concerts, fireworks and the 4th of July parade happening! June 28, 2023: Looking ahead to the Independence Day holiday weekend, we are open normal hours of operation but the Pub will be opening at 10:00 AM on Tuesday July 4th to accommodate those who are coming out to watch the Barrington 4th of July Parade. May 28, 2023: Today (Sunday) the Pub will be open at 10:30 for the Manchester United - Fulham match. On Memorial Day Monday the Pub will be open around 10:15 AM for those who are attending the Memorial Day parade (it starts right across the street from us).

May 26, 2023: Two quick notes for our patrons:

Starting around mid-afternoon the setup for this weekends Barrington Art Festival begins (the Art Festival itself is Saturday & Sunday 10 AM - 5 PM). Cook and Station Streets south of our building will be closed through Sunday early evening. This may make navigating through town a bit more difficult, but parking right in front of our building (Park Avenue) will remain open and the Metra train station lot offers free parking through the weekend.

The "Laughs at the Loft" comedy show has been rescheduled to next Friday, June 2nd. Ticket and further info can be found at this link.

May 25, 2023: We will be showing the 2:00 PM Manchester United - Chelsea match today. We'll also be opening early for their last two games of the season, vs. Fulham on Sunday May 28 (10:30 AM) and vs. Manchester City on Saturday June 3 (9:00 AM).

March 13, 2023: We are offering catering trays of the regions BEST Corned Beef & Cabbage for purchase and pickup! Full pans (serves 25-30) or half pans (serves 12-15) are available - includes our amazing corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, corned beef jus and horseradish (salad option additions are also possible). March 11, 2023: Today is when Chicago and other nearby communities have their annual St. Patrick's Day parades, plus there are many Pub crawls and other events. Just so you know we're fully staffed and ready to serve the crowds, and our Fork & Cork expansion is also open for overflow business.

March 9, 2023: On this day back in 2010 our doors opened for business for the very first time. We were all nervous and eagerly anticipating what was going to happen. As it turned out we were clearly on to something special, since here we are THIRTEEN years later! It’s tremendously difficult to achieve and maintain any level of success in the bar/restaurant industry, and to this day the business and financial challenges remain daunting. Having said that, the reasons we are still here are due to our loyal patrons, supportive community and wonderful, hard-working staff. On behalf of the McGonigal family and all of us at the Pub, THANK YOU for being there for us during this journey, and know that we are always grateful to be here for you!

February 17, 2023: We're officially four weeks away from our St. Patrick's Day celebration, and this year will be our 13th annual! The Events page will be updated with details starting next week.

February 15, 2023: On Thursday February 16th we will be showing the Manchester United - Barcelona match, which starts at 11:45 AM. Our Thursday "Chili-Palooza" specials and $4 Heineken draft match day specials will be in effect.

February 10, 2023: To answer a couple questions about "special" upcoming days:

We will of course be showing the Chiefs-Eagles Superbowl this coming Sunday (5:25 PM kickoff) but have no major party planned. Having said that, we'll have a few "super" specials for the event.

December 25, 2022: On behalf of all the Pub staff, Merry Christmas to you and yours! We open today at 5 PM for full bar service, however our kitchen will be closed.

December 24, 2022: We are open for regular business and regular hours today but our kitchen closes at 9 PM so those staff members can spend some evening time with their families. Also, our Fork & Cork expansion side is closed.

December 21, 2022: Join us tonight at 7 PM for a special "Christmas edition" performance from our Traditional Irish Sessions group. Special guests will be joining, and Christmas carols sheets will be handed out for all to sing along!

December 19, 2022: Congratulations to Argentina on their World Cup win over France in what was an outstanding final match! We'd like to sincerely thank all our awesome patrons who frequented us throughout the tournament; it was our pleasure being here for you and opening early many of the days.

December 16, 2022: The Pub will be opening early for the final two World Cup matches, this Saturday for Croatia-Morocco (third place play-off) and this Sunday for the Argentina-France finals. Doors should open around 8:45 AM. A couple breakfast options will be offered for Saturday, and our full Sunday Brunch menu will be available for the Sunday finals.

Saturday December 24 - normal business hours, but our kitchen will be closing at 9:00 PM so BOH staff can spend some evening time with family. Fork & Cork expansion side will tentatively be open 5 PM - 9 PM.

December 9, 2022: We are open at 9 AM today and tomorrow (Saturday) for the World Cup quarterfinal matchups. Limited breakfast options available until 11 AM.

December 7, 2022: Our full Pub menu is going through a few exciting "winter" revisions that begin next week. Today (and through the weekend) we will be offering a few food specials that highlight some of the new offerings; these will be posted on the right side of this page (and in the main menu section next week).

December 4, 2022: We will be open and showing the Poland-France World Cup match at 9 AM in the Pub (doors open at 8:45 AM), and at 1:00 PM the England-Senegal match will be shown with sound in our expansion Fork & Cork side (open at noon). This way we can accommodate all our soccer fans and the Bears-Packers game, which is on at noon (in the Pub with sound).

December 2, 2022: Just a reminder, the Pub will be opening early for Saturday's USA-Netherlands World Cup match. Doors open at 8:45 AM, match starts at 9:00 AM. Full bar service and a small breakfast menu will also be available. The same opening will also happen on Sunday for the France-Poland match.

December 1, 2022: Our latest themed menu served exclusively at our Fork & Cork expansion side - ASIAN FUSION - starts today and runs for the entire month of December! Take a look at the offerings here. The Fork & Cork side is open at 5 PM every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and is also available to be rented for private events any day of the week.

November 30, 2022: USA World Cup news: the Pub will be opening at 8:45 AM this coming Saturday, December 3rd for the USA-Netherlands match, the first of the "knockout round". Full bar service and several breakfast offerings will be available (more info to follow). Updated viewing and early opening schedules will be posted on the right side of this page as they become available.

November 28, 2022: World Cup news: tomorrow (Tuesday November 29) is a "win or go home" match for the USA as they take on Iran at 1 PM, with England-Wales playing at the same time. It should be a festive crowd so we suggest getting here a little early for a seat. Also through December 2nd we won't be opening early for any of the 9:00 AM matches but will begin doing so for major matches when the knockout round commences (December 3rd).

November 25, 2022: As an official Nebraska Huskers watch site we will be showing the 3 PM Nebraska-Iowa game today with sound in our main level; it is the last game of the season for the Huskers. Note that this immediately follows the 1 PM England-USA World Cup match but viewing should still start on time.

November 23, 2022: As a reminder the Pub opens on Thansgiving Day at 5:00 PM for full bar service but NO kitchen services ("bring your own leftovers"). Also, starting today there is plenty going on throughout the entire Thanksgiving weekend; see the right side of this page for details.

November 22, 2022: Our next themed menu offered in our Fork & Cork expansion side will start the week after Thankgiving, on Thursday December 1st.

November 18, 2022: With the exception of Thanksgiving Day, from Monday November 21 - Monday November 28 the Pub will be opening at 10:00 AM for the first stage of the 2022 World Cup. Here's our VIEWING SCHEDULE for that time frame, and it will be updated accordingly as the tournament continues. October 14, 2022: Nebraska Huskers fans - the Saturday evening 6:30 PM game against Purdue will (as usual) be shown with sound in the Pub's main level. Local solo artist Mac Dralle will start performing immediately after the end of the game. GO BIG RED!

October 13, 2022: Today at our Fork & Cork expansion side we kick off our POLISH themed menu that will run every Thursday, Friday & Saturday through October 29th. Served exclusively at Fork & Cork, this menu is extra special as the owner's mother-in-law - who has lived in Poland her whole life and is currently visiting us for a few weeks - personally produced and/or oversaw the creation of all these menu items. October 11, 2022: The Village of Barrington has put together an interesting concept for "Park Avenue Plaza", which would consist of permanent outdoor community gathering space and al fresco dining on the stretch of Park Avenue that borders the north side of both Pub buildings (where we've done the Barrington Celtic Fest tents in the past). This is based on the passing of the "Home Rule" referendum on November 8th. There are certainly several pros and cons to the idea; take a look at the detailed writeup from 365Barrington, and also visit the Village of Barrington website for more information on the Home Rule referendum.

October 9, 2022: Today we have a special Heineken promotion from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM, with samplings, giveaways and more! Chicago Bears - Vikings kickoff at noon, while the Manchester United - Everton match starts at 1 PM (we'll be showing both & Bears game will be with sound).

October 7, 2022: GO BIG RED! Our Nebraska Huskers take on Rutgers in a special Friday night Big Ten matchup. Kickoff is at 6:00 PM, and we'll be showing the game in our main level with sound.

October 6, 2022: This coming Saturday (October 8th) is the Barrington Fall Wine Walk, which runs from 2 PM - 6 PM throughout the village. As always the Pub is a proud participant as we have been since they started! You do need a ticket for the event, so please check out the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce website for more info.

October 2, 2022: Due to a couple illnesses in the group, the first-Sunday-of-the-month performance by The Ragged Rascals has been cancelled for today. They will be back on Sunday November 6th.

September 30, 2022: It's officially homecoming weekend at Barrington High School, and we welcome all current students, parents and alumni to enjoy time at our establishment, which includes a couple class reunions! Our Broncos take on Hoffman Estates Saturday at 1 PM. Additionally over the weekend we will be showing lots of sports: Saturday features Northern Illinois vs. Ball State (1 PM) and our Nebraska Huskers vs. Indiana at 6:30 PM. Sunday the Pub is opening early for the 8 AM Manchester United - Manchester City match and at noon we'll be showing our Chicago Bears vs. NY Giants. September 10, 2022: Updating prior shared information, our Nebraska Huskers play Georgia Southern tonight at 6:30 PM (Oklahoma is NEXT weekend). However, due to scheduling conflicts with our live entertainment, only the first half of the game will be shown with sound. As an option we will have the entire game with sound showing in our Fork & Cork expansion side. We apologize for the inconvenience, and our previous post from 9/8 has been corrected.

September 9, 2022: To our Manchester United and Premier League fans - out of respect for the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the the league and several other sports fixtures have postponed all weekend activity. On Sunday the Pub will now open at its regularly scheduled 11 AM time.

September 8, 2022: Our Fork & Cork expansion is in its second week with "Creative Burgers" as the themed menu, which is served after 5 PM Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Check out the Fork & Cork page for menus and details. This Saturday we'll be showing the Nebraska Huskers - Georgia Southern game at 6:30 PM (due to our live Irish entertainment only the first half will be shown with sound). On Sunday at noon the Pub welcomes the start of the NFL season as our Chicago Bears have their season opener against San Francisco.

August 21, 2022: Just a reminder that every Sunday from 11 AM - 2 PM the Pub serves a nice selection of Brunch menu items, which are in addition to the regular menu. Check it out on the Sunday Brunch menu page.

August 18, 2022: The second of our three weeks of Greek/Middle Eastern food starts at 5:00 PM today, exclusively at Fork & Cork. Keep in mind it's only available for a limited time - through August 27th - so dont miss out! It's also the last Barrington Cruise Night of the 2022 season and looks like it's going to be a beautiful day for it.

August 14, 2022: Throughout the Village of Barrington today from 12 PM - 4 PM is the PAWS Chicago "Angel With Tails" adoption event. Numerous rescue dogs and cats will be at various businesses with the hope of finding a loving home. The Pub is of course participating in this great cause and will be hosting As Good As Gold Golder Retriever Rescue of IL in our outdoor seating area.

August 11, 2022: This Saturday Manchester United vs. Brentford is on at 11:30 AM and we'll be showing the match with sound at the Pub. Also our Chicago Bears are playing Kansas City (first preseason game) at noon - we will put sound on for the Bears game at the conclusion of MUFC (1:30 PM).

August 10, 2022: We're going Greek at Fork & Cork! Starting tomorrow our third themed menu offering is Greek cuisine. As with prior themes these items are served exclusively on our expansion side and only available for a limited time - August 11 through August 27. August 6, 2022: To our Manchester United faithful - unfortunately we will not be opening at 8:00 AM this Sunday for the Brighton & Hove match but will still honor our $4 Heineken matchday special. Our first MUFC will be next Saturday. Also, tonight is the last night for our current Southern Comfort themed menu at our Fork & Cork expansion side, as a new theme starts later next week (stay tuned for details). July 5, 2022: We are at a loss for words regarding the senseless violence in Highland Park yesterday. That village is about a half hour away from Barrington and thus hit very close to home. Our hearts & prayers go out to these families and all other victims of violence around the country on Monday... it should have been a happy and safe Independence Day celebration.

July 1, 2022: The Pub will be open regular business hours all weekend and we're opening early - at 10 AM - on Monday July 4th to accommodate those out to watch the parade. We'll then be open all day on Monday for regular business.

June 26, 2022: The Pub will now be serving a limited Sunday Brunch menu every Sunday from 11 AM - 2 PM... it is a scaled down version of what was offered at Fork & Cork (which for summertime hours won't be open on Sundays). Menu copies will be posted here shortly.

June 23, 2022: Barrington Cruise Nights return for a full season starting today at 6 PM. They are located just south of the Pub off of Cook & Station streets, sharing space with the new location for the Barrington Farmer's Market. One difference this year is that these events won't feature food & beverage sales from local restaurants; the Village has chosen to handle these tasks. However, the Pub is located next to the festivities and will of course be offering our full menu selection, daily specials and indoor/outdoor seating for all! Additionally, the Fork & Cork expansion side allows easy access off of Station Street.

June 21, 2022: Our expansion Fork & Cork will be closed until this Thursday as we put together some of the "themed" changes to the menus and set new hours of operation. We think you're going to like it! More info forthcoming, so please stay tuned...

June 17, 2022: Father's Day is this Sunday (June 19) and the Pub will be featuring pizza, beer, Bloody Mary and additional food specials for the dads, including a Sunday Brunch served at both the Pub and the Fork & Cork expansion side.

June 9, 2022: The Barrington Farmer's Market starts their 2022 season today in a new location, in the BMO Harris bank parking lot off of Station & Grove Streets (this is behind the Pub as opposed to right in front). Good news for everyone, as it gives them more space and makes parking much easier! The market is every Thursday 3 PM - 7 PM and runs through October 13.

June 2, 2022: In the not-too-distant future we'll have some new menu options in our Fork & Cork expansion side (details forthcoming). As a reminder this side opens at 5 PM Tuesday-Friday, 12 PM on Saturday and 11 AM on Sunday for an all-day brunch.

May 28, 2022: It's going to be a beautiful weekend and as stated in our prior post the Barrington Art Festival runs Saturday & Sunday. Additionally, the Pub will be open for regular service and normal business hours on Memorial Day.

May 24, 2022: This coming Saturday & Sunday over Memorial Day weekend is the annual Barrington Art Festival. which takes place on Cook & Station Streets, literally surrounding the Pub. The festival runs from 10 AM - 5 PM both days. As we do every year for this event, we will be outside selling beer & wine, plus we'll be serving food from our full menu (along with other festival specials TBA) in expanded outdoor seating. Customer parking (for both our patrons and festgoers) will be available in the nearby Metra Rail lot and the BMO Harris lot off of Station Street. Click here for more details on the event.

May 21, 2022: Here's some very notable but unfortunately crushing news for the Pub and over 177,000 other bars, restaurants and small business owners in this industry that have been desperately waiting for grants - the Restaurant Revitalization Fund has not passed in the Senate. You can read the articles from Nation's Restaurant News, Yahoo Finance and Eater.

May 20, 2022: This coming Sunday (May 22nd) is the last day of Premier League matches for this season. All matches start at 10 AM and the Pub will be open early for our soccer-loving patrons. Note that due to our HDTV and newtowrk broadcasting limits, we'll only be able to show three of the matches. We'll of course be featuring Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace, with the other two matches being Manchester City vs. Aston Villa and Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton.

May 18, 2022: We definitely prefer all our patrons to enjoy the atmosphere and experience at the Pub while eating & drinking, but sometimes you gotta eat at home. Though we've never been much of a "to-go" type of place, we can still accommodate! Effective now our DoorDash menu has been expanded to include several new items; it is still limited in offerings but does provide the option for online ordering and delivery. Of course our full menu is always available for customer pickup - just take a look at our Menus page, give us a call at 847-277-7400 and place your order.

May 11, 2022: Our outdoor "bistro" sidewalk seating is now officially open for the season, and just in time for the (very) hot weather!

April 2, 2022: We're bringing back a very limited "Late Night Menu" for Saturday evenings, offered 10 PM - Midnight. Perfect snacking items that will usually coincide with our Saturday entertainment. March 15, 2022: The Ides of March are sentimental for our McGonigal family... on this day back in 2006 loving wife and mother Mary McGonigal passed away from ovarian cancer. Though she did not live long enough to see the Pub, we know she would have been proud. We also dedicated our second level to her.

March 9, 2022: Today is our TWELVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY and it's been quite a journey to say the least! It doesn't seem like it was that long ago when we were finishing our touch-up painting and opening the Pub doors for the first time. The crazy challenges of the bar/restaurant business does take its toll over the years in too many ways, with or without a worldwide pandemic. Having said that, we've managed to persevere and stay put, plus recently expanded to include great new options at neighboring Fork & Cork. The owners don't take credit... our success is ALL due to our excellent staff, great community and awesome patrons! From the bottom of our Irish hearts, THANK YOU for your incredible support. February 18, 2021: "Fork & Cork" - the name we are using to better idenfity the Pub expansion side - will open up tonight for a weeked trial run of the fully revamped menu (hours 5 PM - 11 PM Friday & Saturday). February 14, 2022: Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at the Pub, and if you are celebrating please join us after 5 PM in our next-door expansion for some delicious food specials - CLICK HERE to view what's being served. January 21, 2022: After a few setbacks & various delays we're getting VERY CLOSE to our expansion side fully opening! By early February we should be just about there and are planning a Valentine's Dinner as our first main event. At the moment we are open Monday through Saturday 5 PM - 11 PM. CLICK HERE for the current limited menu options which are available only on the Charhouse side until 10 PM during open times.

January 18, 2022: We are having a post-holiday sale on two drafts - Breckenridge Christmas Ale and Great Lakes Christmas Ale. Both are delicious, both pack a high ABV, and both are just $4 for a full pint draft! Get 'em while they last!

January 11, 2022: A new year brings new opportunities, and in this case it's the "changing of the guards" in our kitchen. We are very excited to welcome Justin Krumm back to the Pub, but this time he's taking over as our Executive Chef for both sides of the business! On that note we also bid adieu to Ted Stay, who is moving back into the country club atmosphere. He was our original chef when we first opened and through two tours of duty has been with us for nearly six years. Both will do wonderful in their new positions.

December 25, 2021: On behalf of all the Pub staff we want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! As a reminder, we open today at 5:00 PM for full bar service, but our kitchen will be closed (feel free to bring snacks). Regular hours and full service resume on Sunday December 26th.

December 24, 2021: Just a reminder, the Pub will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve but kitchen services end at 9 PM. Our expansion "Charhouse" side is open for dinner 5 PM - 8 PM.

December 20, 2021: For a bit of additional holiday cheer we welcome local talent & Barrington resident Blake Nolan to our main level stage this Wednesday December 22nd. He's home from winter break and was hoping to play a couple gigs while here, so we have him Wednesday and then Thursday January 6th. Showtimes are 6 PM - 8 PM. Tips for Blake are appreciated!

December 16, 2021: Holiday hours of operation:

Friday December 24 - normal business hours, but our kitchen will be closing at 9:00 PM so BOH staff can spend some evening time with family. Expansion "Charhouse" will be open 5 PM - 8 PM.

Saturday December 25 - Merry Christmas! The Pub will open at 5:00 PM with full bar service but no kitchen service. Various snacks may be provided. Expansion "Charhouse" side will be closed.

Friday December 31 - normal business hours and we are working on our "casual" New Years Eve event (for both sides). More details forthcoming.

December 6, 2021: Our expansion "Charhouse" side is still open limited hours but is now close to being open every day. Monday-Saturday open 5 PM - 11 PM, Sunday open 4 PM - 8 PM (trial Sunday schedule for now). BIG update forthcoming!

December 1, 2021: Our kitchen hours have slightly changed but are now more consistent across the board, and this applies to both the Pub and expansion side:

Monday-Saturday: kitchen open until 10 PM

Sunday: kitchen open until 9 PM.

As a reminder the Pub itself opens at 11 AM every day, and closes at 1 AM Sunday-Thursday, 2 AM Friday & Saturday.

November 24, 2021: For the evening of "Blackout Wednesday" both levels of the Pub will be open along with the expansion "Charhouse" side. Bars close at 1 AM (kitchen at 10 PM). Plenty of room to roam!

November 22, 2021: The Pub will open on Thanksgiving Day (11/25) at 5:00 PM. Full bar service will be available but no kitchen services... feel free to bring some leftovers to share!

November 5, 2021: Tomorrow (Saturday) the Pub will be opening at 7:30 AM for the Manchester United - Manchester City match. Our kitdhen will NOT be open for it but feel free to "Bring Your Own Breakfast". Additionally at 11:00 AM we will be showing our Nebraska Huskers vs. Ohio State with sound.

Novenmber 3, 2021: We are having some issues with our main level HVAC unit and are waiting on parts for the repair. This should hopefully be resolved within the next 1-2 days. In the meantime it's business as usual but we do apologize if it's a little chilly in the Pub!

November 1, 2021: Tonight at 8 PM CST be sure to watch the Fox show "The Big Leap" as the Pub is in it... the shows production crew filmed some scenes here back on September 20th! We will be showing it at the Pub tonight if you'd like to join us. For those who miss the live airing, it is episode #7 and here is the link to the the video; our scene starts here at the 16:30 but if watching a recording with full commercials it's about the 22:30 mark.

October 30, 2021: Join us in The Loft tonight for a Halloween party hosted by the fantastc band The Honeymen! Doors open at 7 PM, band starts at 8 PM. Don't forget your costume!

October 27, 2021: Brief update on the “Charhouse” expansion efforts – we’ve managed to work out many of the logistical difficulties encountered with this very quick business turnover from our predecessor to becoming fully McGonigal’s. We’ve had quite a bit of success with our trial food menus; our head chef and kitchen staff has done an absolutely remarkable job with limited manpower available. We’ve added some necessary kitchen equipment and secured some excellent front of house employees that along with Maggie McGonigal will become the friendly faces of the establishment. Having said all that, there are still several behind-the-scenes issues to fix, but so far everything seems to be going in the right direction!

A new page on the very old (but always updated) Pub website will be added soon with all sorts of information. Keep checking back here for details. Also, there’s a good chance the name of the expansion side will change too; we are working on signs and will of course let you know the final outcome when we have our “Grand Expansion Opening” tentatively being planned for late November.

As posted earlier our temporary but current hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 5 PM – 11 PM and Saturday 2 PM – 11 PM. We will be closed the next two Sundays due to private event bookings. By “grand opening” time, just like the Pub we will have this side of the business open seven days a week!

October 19, 2021: "Charhouse" expansion hours for this week: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 5 PM - 11 PM (there is a special private event Wednesday), Saturday 2 PM - 11 PM and Sunday 12 PM - 6 PM. We'll be trying out a few new menu items later this week too, along with new wines. Stay tuned for details!

October 11, 2021: CHARHOUSE Update - starting this week we will be taking our soft opening "crawl" and move it up to a soft opening "walk" as we slowly get closer to normal operating hours. This coming week our next-door expansion will be open Tuesday through Friday 5 PM - 11 PM, Saturday 12 PM - 11 PM and tentatively Sunday (10/17) from noon - 6 PM. More info forthcoming.

October 8, 2021: As we did last week, this Saturday (October 9th) we will be showing the 6:30 PM Nebraska Huskers - Michigan game with sound in our main level. Our scheduled live entertainment - Blues Demolition - will start immediately once the game ends.

October 7,2021: "McGonigal's Charhouse" will once again be open for business the next few days - today through Saturday we are opening at 5 PM and Sunday is TBA. We still have quite a ways to go until we get everyting up to our standards, so offerings will remain somewhat limited... but feel free to stop in and give our expanded business - and delicious new food items - a test run! September 23, 2021: Our awesome Pub Chili is back on the menu for fall & winter seasons!

September 19, 2021: On Monday September 20th the Pub will be closed for lunch and opening by 3:00 PM, just in time for Happy Hour. But it's for a good reason - there will be some filming at the Pub (and other spots in Barrington) for a new TV series that's coming out on FOX. Cool stuff indeed! September 17, 2021: We're now officially six months away from St. Patrick's Day! Plans for the celebration will start soon, and perhaps it will be the return of the Barrington Celtic Fest.

September 16, 2021: This Saturday (9/18) our Nebraska Huskers take on Oklahoma at 11 AM; the Pub will open at 10:45 AM for early arrivers and will be showing the game with sound. Check back here and on our Facebook page for gameday specials.

Our MUFC match day special - $4 Heineken 20oz drafts - will be on tap, and a small complimentary breakfast buffet will be served at halftime. Additionally we will be showing our Nebraska Huskers vs. Buffalo with sound at 2:30 PM.

September 4, 2021: The Pub will be open for full business and regular hours on Labor Day (Monday September 6th).

September 1, 2021: Due to numerous factors the restaurant & hospitality industry (along with other businesses) has been experiencing supply issues from many of our vendors, and in some cases it's rather severe. Though we are taking action to best assure the ability to keep all of our food & drink offerings available, there is a good chance that we will occasionally run out of certain popular items. We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your understanding during these challenging times.

August 30, 2021: Yesterday (Sunday) we had a power outage in our area which ended up closing us down late afternoon and for the rest of the evening. Our apologies for the inconvenience, but power was fully restored late last night and we are ready to go for regular business! As a reminder our hours are Sunday-Thursday 11 AM - 1 AM (kitchen open until 9 PM), Friday & Saturday 11 AM - 2 AM (kitchen open until 10:30 PM).

August 26, 2021: Football (both American and European) is officially back and hopefully fully normal in 2021! This coming Saturday we have our Nebraska Huskers taking on Illinois in their first game of the college season. Noon kickoff and we'll be showing the game with sound. Additioinally on Sunday we haveManchester United - Wolverhampton, start time 10:30 AM and the Pub will be open for it.

August 25, 2021: Our sports schedules for viewing games at the Pub will be added shortly to the Events tab section on this site. It will include Manchester United, Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Chicago Bears - all teams which we proudly support. Gameday specials will also be listed.

August 18, 2021: Join us tomorrow night (Thursday August 19th) for the last Barrington Cruise Night of the year. It runs from 6 PM - 8 PM and the Pub will be serving some food, beer & wine right in the middle of the event, which is just a block south of our establishment.

August 9, 2021: We are excited to announce that Celtic Thunder artist Damian McGinty makes his only Chicagoland stop right here on Friday November 12th and will be performing in The Loft (our 2nd level)! August 4, 2021: This Thursday (August 5th) is the "National Night Out Against Crime" and our Barrington Police Department will be hosting it just south of the Pub at Cook & Station Streets from 6 PM - 8:30 PM, Visit the Village website for details.

July 28, 2021: Barrington Parents - on behalf of the Pub and the Suburban Action PAC we'd like to THANK YOU for supporting our children and community! Please join us on Friday July 30th, 7 PM - 10 PM for a casual get-together in The Loft. It's a great chance to meet some of your neighbors and members from the Action PAC. July 25, 2021: On Monday July 26th the Pub welcomes you to join the Suburban Action PAC meeting at 7 PM in The Loft - special guest will be Jeanne Hedgepath, a 20+ year Palatine High School teacher from District 211 who was terminated by a 5-2 vote by the Palatine High School Board of Education. She will be sharing her story and observations on what is happening in our schools.

July 13, 2021: This coming Thursday July 15th (weather permitting) is the Barrington Cruise Night from 6 PM - 8 PM, and the Pub will be participating by selling food, beer, wine and soda at it! Look for us near the corner of Cook & Station Streets, just a block south of our front doors.

July 5, 2021: All of the staff at the Pub hope everyone has been having a fantastic & safe holiday weekend. It extends into today and just as a reminder we are open regular business hours (11 AM - 1 AM).

July 4, 2021: Happy Independence Day to all! We may be an Irish Pub but proud to be Americans!

The Pub will be fully open for regular business and full service on Monday July 4th.

June 28, 2021: The Village of Barrington has some holiday weekend activities planned... live music, fireworks Friday July 2nd and a parade the morning of Saturday July 3rd. Things are getting back to normal everywhere! Details can be found on their website.

June 25, 2021: Due to pending inclement weather the car show scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday June 26) has been rescheduled to Sunday July 25th. Bands from 4 PM - 10 PM are still scheduled to play off of Park Avenue (under small tents) and the Pub will of course be open for food and drink service.

June 22, 2021: This coming Saturday (June 26) is the inaugural Classic Collectors Car Show hosted by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce. The Pub is front & center of the event, serving food and libations right outside our front doors on Park Avenue (joining us are our neighbor friends at Big Iron Horse BBQ). The show itself runs from noon - 4 PM, with live music and outdoor seating from 4 PM - 10 PM. Click here for additional details (also here is a Facebook image flyer link).

June 19, 2021: We have some great specials planned for Father's Day (this Sunday)... check back for details!

June 14, 2021: After having to take off all of 2020, this week a couple of the staple Barrinegon events resume - the Barrington Cruise Nights kick off this Thursday (June 17) from 6 PM - 8 PM and happens just south of our establishment. They aren't every Thursday as in the past; check the Village of Barrington website for further info. The Pub and our neighbors Big Iron Horse BBQ will be handling all food and beverages outside for the events. Additionally the Barrington Farmer's Market is in effect 3 PM - 7 PM every Thursday from June 17th through October 21st, and it's in the usual spot off of Park Avenue right outside our main doors.

June 3, 2021: We're pleased to announce that not only do we have all our regular outdoor seating in place (that wraps around our building) but the Village of Barrington has allowed us to have expanded seating into Park Avenue, right outside our doors. Plenty of room for all, and just in time for summer!

May 31, 2021: We'd like to thank Amdur Productions, the Village of Barrington and of course all the patrons who came out for the Barrington Art Festival the past couple days. It was a tremendous success and sooooo good to see all the smiling faces out & about again!

May 29, 2021: The Pub will be open regular hours and for full service on Memorial Day, Monday May 31st.

May 27, 2021: To our patrons - please note that starting Friday afternoon (May 28) the streets surrounding the Pub will be blocked off for the weekend Barrington Art Festival. Additional parking can be found in the "BMO Harris" lot just south of us and in the Metra station lot just east of our building. Regular parking will return to normal Sunday evening (May 30).

May 26, 2021: On Saturday & Sunday over this upcoming Memorial Day weekend the Barrington Art Festival returns to the center of downtown Barrington, and as we have done every year the Pub will be in the middle of it serving up cold beverages. Hosted by Amdur Productions, 10 AM - 5 PM both days. Visit their website for details.

May 22, 2021: On Sunday (5/23) the Pub will be opening at 10 AM for Manchester United - Wolverhampton and a few other matches. Our match day and Sunday Specials are in effect, plus we will have a small complimentary breakfast buffet at halftime.

May 18, 2021: Effective today our hours of operation have returned to normal, and we've extended our weekend kitchen hours:

Sunday - Thursday 11 AM - 1 AM (kitchen until 9 PM)

Friday & Saturday 11 AM - 2 AM (kitchen until 10:30 PM)

Closing/late night hours may slightly adjust based on necessity at that time.

May 17, 2021: We have a few more "weather-questionable" days in front of us, but most of our outdoor seating will be available by the end of this week... just in time for the 80 degree temperatures to arrive!

May 12, 2021: A big THANK YOU goes out to the Rebel Diners group who were at the Pub for an extended lunch yesterday. This is a wonderful assembly of patriots who promote and support small family-owned restaurants that have been doing whatever it takes to stay in business during these difficult times. May 5, 2021: After a hiatus of over a year our BEER OF THE MONTH has returned! For the month of May we are featuring $4 drafts of Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils. Also, we'll be "doubling down" and adding another one within the next couple days... stay tuned!

May 4, 2021: We're starting to introduce some new & revamped specials, and Tuesdays has just become significantly better! Our weekday 3 PM - 6 PM Happy Hour specials are now available ALL DAY EVERY TUESDAY! Visit our Specials page for the list of offerings.

May 3, 2021: Here is a just-released music video for the song "Trouble" that was filmed at the Pub, so we are sure you will recognize the venue! The talented artist Kaeyra (Caroline Baran) is a local talent from Algonquin, and we are honored that they chose to do the video here.

April 30, 2021: In response to some inquiries, our outdoor seating should be returning within the next couple weeks. We won't be able to use the entire Park Avenue parking lot again but we're working with the village on expanding our seating capacity to include a few parking spots. More info forthcoming. Also, this coming Sunday we will be opening early (10:30 AM) for the Manchester United - Liverpool match. Plenty of offerings including or usual matchday special of $4 Heineken 20oz drafts and an extra special $4 Stella Artois draft special in honor of dearly departed friend Mike "Liverpool" Ginsburg.

April 28, 2021: Unfortunately our live entertainment scheduled for this coming Saturday has been canceled due to a family emergency with one of the band members. If we find a replacement band we will post that info here and on our Facebook page.

April 27, 2021: A bit of a revamped daily specials lineup is forthcoming... the old favorites will remain but some great improvement are being added. Check back later this week for updates and a return of our regular Specials page.

April 24, 2021: Manchester United fans - the Pub will not be opening early for the 8 AM match vs Leeds this Sunday (4/25). We apologize for the inconvenience but we invite you out for next Sundays match vs. Liverpool.

April 15, 2021: As a companion to our very popular Burgers Wednesday, we have a new special starting today - Tots & Brats Thursday! Your choice of a bratwurst or jumbo hot dog with a healthy serving of tater tots for just $5.95, available for dine-in all day every Thursday.

April 13, 2021: We're finally starting to bring back some live entertainment, which should shape up to be every Saturday (as it was pre-pandemic). As of May 1st we have some bands already booked and over the next couple weeks the schedule should fill up; check our Events page for details.

April 7, 2021: Today is National Beer Day! Though our "Beer Me Tuesday" specials aren't available on a Wednesday, we still have twenty great beers on tap plus our fantastic Happy Hour (3 PM - 6 PM) with beer discounts!

April 4, 2021: The Pub is OPEN today, Easter Sunday... traditionally we don't do a whole lot of special things on this day but we are here for you 11 AM - 11 PM. Have a Happy Easter everyone!

April 1, 2021: Baseball is BACK and as we do every year we're cheering for our Chicago Cubs! We'll be doing a variety of home gameday specials throughout the year, so please our Facebook page page and back here for more info.

March 30, 2021: Join us on Tuesday March 31st from 5:30 PM - 7 PM in The Loft for a Townhall Meeting with candidates running for Barringon D220 School Board, Barringon area Library Trustee and Harper College Truestee. March 27, 2021: Fun fact - the owner of the Pub is originally from Nebraska (thus a big Huskers fan) but was Class of 1987 at Loyola University Chicago! We'll be cheering on the Ramblers today as they return to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and have several gameday specials to share.

March 18, 2021: THANK YOU to all our patrons who came out yesterday for our St. Patrick's Day festivities... it was truly a great day and very nice to get back to some sense of normalcy. We are already looking forward to a FULL Barrington Celtic Fest celebration next year!

March 17, 2021: Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's hard to believe it's been two years since we really celebrated this day, and though it won't quite be like the usual ones it's still going to be a great time! March 12, 2021: It's time to "Get your Irish on" as we have a trifecta of fun planned for Saturday March 13th: two of our all-time Pub favorites take our main level stage, Morgan Fingleton at noon then Gareth Woods at 8 PM. Plus we have a St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser hosted by State Representative Marty McLaughlin starting at 7 PM in The Loft, which is fully open to the public. March 10, 2021: We're a week away from the "Big Day", and though the usual Irish celebration will be much different from past years it will still be festive and a significant upgrade over 2020! March 9, 2021: Back on this day in 2010 we were finishing our touch-up painting while opening the Pub doors for the first time. Despite all the crazy challenges of this business over the years and the horrific 2020 the Pub keeps chuggin' along... all because of our excellent staff, great community and awesome patrons! Today is our ELEVEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY and we want to THANK all of you for making this possible. Five of our top selling entrees and sandwiches are all priced at $11 today, plus we have discounted draft beer specials all day long. Enjoy and thanks again!

March 8, 2021: There is a McGonigal running for Barrington D220 School Board! The wife of the Pub owner - Malgorzata "Maggie" McGonigal - is on an election slate with fantastic individuals who truly care and will have a positive influnece on our children and community. March 5, 2021: Manchester Derby Sunday! The Pub will be opening this coming Sunday at at 10:15 AM for the 10:30 AM match between Manchester United & Manchester City. We're featuring several specials including a Stella Premier League chalice giveaway to our patrons (while supplies last)!

March 3, 2021: Two weeks away from St. Patrick's Day! Not much new to report since our last update, but we are still attempting to finalize bookings with a couple bands for the day and wanted to remind everyone that BOTH levels of the Pub will be open on March 13th and March 17th.

February 26, 2021: Lent-friendly weekend fish specials are plentiful on our menu this weekend, plus our delicious Pub thin crust pizzas are discounted and we have even mroe specials set for Sunday's Manchester United match vs. Chelsea! Check out the right side of this page for details.

February 25, 2021: We're slightly less than three weeks away from St. Patrick's Day, and though current plans have not changed since our update from a week ago we'll post more new info as it becomes available. For now, we are pleased to announce that two of our long-time (as in since we opened) Irish musicians will be playing at the Pub on Saturday March 13th. Morgan Fingleton will on our main level stage early through mid-afternoon, then Gareth Woods takes over at 8 PM. Welcome back!

February 19, 2021: By popular demand our kitchen hours have been extended Friday & Saturday evenings until 10:00 PM. No "late night" food menus (yet) but the extra time will be beneficial to our later evening diners.

February 17, 2021: St. Patrick’s Day is exactly one month away as of today! As any true Irish Pub we plan for a festive occasion, however the continuing reality of the current virus situation greatly limits the ability to “go big” with a huge party. The annual Barrington Celtic Fest that was shut down last year also won’t be happening in 2021. Though this is truly unfortunate it’s also necessary at this time. We will continue to monitor the changing conditions over the next few weeks and adjust accordingly, so please check back for updates on our schedules and protocols (both here and on our Facebook page). Hopefully as the world starts returning to a safe normal we’ll have plenty of reasons to celebrate!

February 16, 2021: Laissez les bons temps rouler! Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday just won't be the same this year without the parties and parades, but you can still celebrate at the Pub... we have our full food menus, discounting most of our brews and also offer our famous HAPPY HOUR from 3 PM - 6 PM.

February 11, 2021: Valentine's Day weekend is almost upon us, and though the Pub may not offer the most romantic setting in the area keep in mind that we are open 11 AM - 11 PM every day for full business. No reservations required, bring your significant other, friends and/or family by anytime for a great time! February 5, 2021: We have a fun sports weekend happening - Saturday is Manchester United vs. Everton at 2 PM, and of course Sunday is Super Bowl LV. Great specials are available both days; please check out the info on the right side of the page for details.

February 2, 2021: Good news for bars, restaurants & other small businesses... as of today Cook County has officially moved into "Phase 4" mitigations, which is back where we were before the end of October. January 31, 2021: Despite the heavy snows we are OPEN today for full service business and ready to serve you! Remember that we offer our full menu for carryout along with a limited selection for online ordering & delivery via DoorDash.

January 28, 2021: If you have been holding off on having a private event, it may finally be time to start planning again! There are of course many capacity & operational restrictions still in place, but the Pub can still accommodate small gatherings responsibly and safely. If you are looking for a place to host a corporate event or meeting, birthday party, rehearsal dinner, bachelor/bachelorette party, wedding reception, holiday party or any other special event, we offer banquet options within our facility for private and semi-private parties & events. January 23, 2021: Effective TODAY restaurants in Chicago and Cook County are now OPEN for business! Limited capacities and additional restrictions do apply at the "Tier 1" level, but that's at least moving in the right direction for all the struggling establishments. For those who didn't feel safe going out before, please get out and frequent your local Pubs/Bars/Restaurants! As you already know we have been and will continue to be here for you, plus we can never say enough how grateful we are for all the support. THNAK YOU!!!

January 14, 2021: This coming Sunday (January 17) the Pub opens its doors at 10:15 AM for the Manchester United – Liverpool match at 10:30 AM; these are currently the top two teams in the Premier League! We'll be offering our usual $4 Heineken 20oz drafts matchday special, plus we will be honoring our good friend Mike Ginsburg (who passed away a month ago) with $4 Stella Artois drafts and a small complimentary breakfast buffet at halftime.
